A Guide to Fiji Vacation Rentals
If you are travelling to Fiji with friends, or with a family, then a vacation rental might be just the right thing, as they can be cost-effective for small groups. Vacation rentals usually have 2 or 3 bedrooms, comfortable living area and outdoor deck, and full-sized kitchen. This means that you can holiday in the privacy of your 'home away from home', and save money on accommodation and meal costs. There are usually restaurants in the vicinity, which means you are not necessarily chained to the kitchen sink, but can enjoy the option of eating in or dining out. Many vacation homes come with all equipment such as outdoor barbecue and furniture, TV and DVD player and so on.
Where to find vacation rentals in Fiji Islands
- Outer Island vacation rentals
Best spots: Taveuni and Savusavu.
- Main Island vacation rentals
Look in these spots: Saweni Beach near Nadi, and Pacific Harbour
These rental homes are usually owned by expatriates who do not stay in Fiji year round, but who lease out their property at times they are not in residence. This means that they are usually comfortable and homey. Usually there are separate quarters accommodating a couple of local staff on the property, who act as hosts, gardeners, cleaners, caretakers and friends - all rolled into one! They also have a wealth of knowledge of where to shop, and where to sight-see. Many will also be happy to cook meals for you and introduce you to tasty local dishes.
