Fiji Hotels Travel Guide

Travellers are familiar with hotel accommodation world-wide and often prefer to stay at a hotel room when they visit Fiji, rather than, say, a beachfront bure (cottage) or private villa. Hotels are often also the preference of business travellers, who are visiting the country for different reasons than just relaxing by the pool or on the beach. There are many hotel properties in Fiji Islands catering to both leisure and business travellers and they are members of the Fiji Hotels Association (now Fiji Islands Hotels and Tourism Association), which has been active since 1965 and serves, amongst other things, to maintain and promote standards within the tourist industry in Fiji.

Types of Hotels in Fiji

  • Nadi Airport Hotels
There are many places right near the airport. Denarau hotels are also only about 15-20 minutes drive away. Where to find: Nadi and Denarau Island

  • Luxury 5-star international resort hotels, including Sheraton, Sofitel, Westin, Hilton, Radisson and Outrigger.
Best spots: Denarau Island at Nadi, or Coral Coast for the Outrigger.

  • Business hotels in Suva
Hotel accommodation for business travellers to the capital of Fiji.
Best spots to find: Downtown CBD of Suva, including Lami on the outskirts.

  • Boutique Luxury Vacation Hotels
Where to find: Try the Pearl South Pacific at Pacific Harbour.

  • Budget Hotels
Also check out the budget vacations for cheap Fiji resorts and lodges.
Where are they: Budget hotels are in Suva, Nadi, Lautoka and Rakiraki on the main island. Also at Savusavu in the North of Fiji.

When you vacation at a hotel in Fiji Islands you can expect the same kind of amenities and facilities as are provided by hotels in other parts of the world. A comfortable room with ensuite bathroom. Usually air-conditioned, and with daily room cleaning. At least one restaurant and bar will be on the premises, and room service is available for those wishing to eat in the privacy of one's room. Fiji Hotels usually have a TV and phone in the room, and more and more these days one will find an Internet connection service also. Some hoteliers also provide wireless internet in the lobby and restaurant but it is best to check on these services before booking if this is important for your stay. Since Fiji is a tropical vacation destination, hotels usually have a pool, sometimes golf and/or tennis, a boutique and tour desk. Some also have a hair salon, exercise gym and massage spa facilities but not all. Since hotels are often used by business travellers to Fiji, a business centre is often found, along with meeting and conference facilities at the larger properties able to cater to several hundred delegates. Fiji Islands is an ideal conference location, combining business with vacation-style breaks.
